Libby Application Usability Study

Focus:

Title Recommender, Labeling & Wishlist Functionality

As part of a UX research team, I contributed to a usability study focused on improving discoverability and clarity in the Libby app’s book recommendation and wishlist features. Our primary goals were to ensure users could easily find relevant book recommendations, understand how tagging and labeling worked, and create a more intuitive wishlist experience.

We conducted interviews, usability testing, observational studies, and remote contextual inquiries with users of varying backgrounds. Our testing revealed that users had difficulty understanding existing tags, locating the wishlist, and navigating the recommendation flow. By reworking the tagging system into clearer labels and improving the visibility of wishlist integration, we found users responded positively and felt more in control of their reading preferences.

I contributed to the design and visual refinement of the prototype, as well as insights synthesis and testing documentation. Key takeaways included the need for a more prominent recommended section, clearer labeling systems, and custom wishlist functionality to enhance discoverability.
